DIN Sized UHF Radio

DIN mounted UHF radios can still be a poplar choice for vehicles with sufficient room. A DIN is a standard mounting term used for the fitment of car stereos and many japanese vehicles have sufficient room for both a single DIN stereo and DIN sized UHF in the dashboard.

Compact UHF Radio

One of the big developments with modern UHF radios is the size, with major brands bringing all of the features of the larger DIN units into a small chassis.

Mounting flexibility also increases with the introduction of microphones with LCD screens and key buttons so that you can keep focused on the road ahead. There are also a number of GME UHF‘s available that allow you to mount the control unit under a seat or out of sight with just the microphone accessible for use.

UHF Antenna Installation

Most UHF antenna require a ground plane, which means they should effectively be mounted on the top of a metal surface, making the centre of the vehicles roof the best spot. Unfortunately this is not possible in most applications as it would require drilling a hole in the centre of your vehicle’s roof. The most suitable locations include the roof gutter, from the front guard/bonnet or bulbar if fitted.
